About this event
On our panel, amongst others, we will have:
- Amanda Millar: the first open member of the LGBTQIA+ Community to be President of The Law Society Scotland.
- Debbie Prewett: Lesbian mum and Vice-President of Customer Operations at The Economist.
- Dr Abbie Goldberg: Professor in the Department of Psychology at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and author of four books: LGBTQ Family Building: A Guide for Prospective Parents (APA; 2022), Open Adoption & Diverse Families (Oxford; 2020), Gay Dads (NYU Press; 2012), Lesbian and Gay Parents and their Children (APA; 2010). - Cat: An employee of a private fertility clinic talking about some of the rules and regulations surrounding surrogacy applied to the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Matt Wester: Matt join us as one of Pink Saltire’s Community Support Workers, who has recently worked on delivering the LGBT+ Hub Study in Perth & Kinross, as well as co-ordinating a new Rainbow Heartlands programme for the region. He identifies as pansexual, after some time questioning his sexuality throughout university some moons ago!
- Rosa: an ally, sharing her story about being a mum of a LGBTQIA+ person.
- Dana: Non-binary bi person, UHI student.
We will discuss issues and challenges surrounding the relationships between parents & children, as well as children & society.
We will talk about some of the existing supporting services available that can help each party on their journey.
And, as part of the registration process, you will be able to submit your own questions to our panel.

Welcome to the stage, OutFest!
Shaper/Caper and Dundee Pride present a pure massive celebration for LGBTQ+ History Month! This February will be chockablock with creative events, workshops and discussions that explore what it's like to be a queer person in Dundee right now.
We’re collaborating with some absolutely fabulous local partners to brighten up your February, including V&A Dundee, DCA, DJCAD and many many more! From pop-up performances to vogue workshops, employability talks for the creative industries to our Battle of the Icons TikTok challenge, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
We’ll also be kick-starting our brand new community disco, Discotheque (just like a roller disco without those pesky skates!) and launching the new-look version of our magazine show The In/Out Crowd featuring some wonderful guests!
