Feelin’ braw!
Shaper/Caper and Dundee Pride are delighted to introduce BRAW - a new project that aims to boost the mental health and wellbeing of those living in Dundee and the surrounding areas.
BRAW brings together some of Shaper/Caper’s long-standing projects, like A Day to Play, Dance for Parkinson’s and Young Creatives Masterclasses, with brand-new and super exciting ideas to bring community, support and joy to some of the city’s most vulnerable groups.

LGBTQ+ Events
To celebrate Pride Month, join us on Saturday 18 June in the Overgate’s Gather Space for a day full of free LGBTQ+ events that will put you in a BRAW mood! There will be talks and presentations from LGBTQ+ creatives and the recipients of our second round of LGBTQ+ bursaries, a new film produced by Dundee Pride that explore LGBTQ+ mental health in Dundee, LGBTQ+ Social Cafes, and the ever popular family dance adventures A Day to Play.
Cared-For People and Their Carers
On Mondays throughout June and beyond Shaper/Caper are hosting Dance for Parkinson’s - a free weekly class designed especially for those with Parkinson’s disease and their families and carers. As well as addressing physical concerns such as balance, flexibility, coordination and gait, the classes also help to develop confidence, reduce social isolation and express creativity. While they are designed particularly for those living with Parkinson’s, we warmly welcome anyone who feels they would benefit from getting involved.
The Dance for Parkinson’s Scotland programme is a joint initiative originally established by Dance Base, Scotland's National Centre for Dance and Scottish Ballet, Scotland's National Dance Company, and delivered in partnership with Parkinson's UK.
Young People
Our free monthly masterclasses offer young creatives mentoring from the Shaper/Caper team and industry professionals on a range of topics from freelancing skills, CV and application writing, fund-raising and much more! We aim to support young people in employment by equipping them with the tools and knowledge required to thrive as creative professionals. Are you aged 16 to 30 and feel like this is for you? We’d love to hear from you!
BRAW is funded by the Scottish Government's Community Health and Wellbeing Fund.
